We were delighted to be joined by several new faces at our first meeting of the new season on Wednesday, and we hope to see them again at our next meeting on the 18th.
New Chair Andrea Thrussell began the evening by outlining the structure of the season ahead, explaining the changes to the committee since the AGM in May and thanking both Jason Quayle and Jonathan Latimer for their service to the committee.
The annual Mike Goldie Trophy competition had a theme of ‘Trees’, which was chosen by last year’s winner, Gwen Tuck. There were a variety of locations and styles among the entries reviewed by Gwen, and congratulations to Brian Green who took the honours with his image ‘Wind Blown In Santon’.
Brian also took second place with ‘Reach For The Sky’ while new member Stuart Alexander made an immediate impact with his image ‘Trees’, which Gwen awarded third place.
After the break we reviewed the “What I Did This Summer” images of several members, which reflected a varied summer of travel and activities, and finally we shared images from some of the people who took part in the Photo Scavenger Hunt in Castletown last month.
Our next meeting on Wednesday 18th September is a practical session with an informal mixture of close up photography, ‘bokeh’ effects with lights and some other unusual subjects so bring your camera and (if you have them) tripod and any extra lenses.
The evening will also be a great opportunity to mingle with other members and ask any questions, and if you are thinking of joining us you will be very welcome to come for a chat. We start at the usual 7.45pm.
