Mike Goldie Trophy 2024

Mike Goldie Trophy winner 2024: "Autumn Carpet" by James Joyce
Mike Goldie Trophy winner 2024: “Autumn Carpet” by James Joyce

The new season started on 11th September with the annual Mike Goldie Trophy and the almost traditional “What I Did This Summer” show-and-tell by members.

When last year’s winner Jason Quayle set the theme of “Manx Glens” he hoped it would encourage members out into the local countryside with their cameras, The challenge clearly worked as many of the island’s lovely glens featured in the entries, with Groudle and Ballaglass the most popular.

Jason gave his thoughts on each image before selecting a shortlist and the winner; “Autumn Carpet” by James Joyce. Congratulations to James for this beautifully lit image of trees at the top end of Ballaglass Glen.

In record time, James has already set “Motion” as the theme for next year’s competition, which can be interpreted in many ways so get your thinking caps on!
