At our first meeting of the new season, members shared images of “What I Did This Summer” to tell us about their travels and activities since the end of last season.
We viewed the images after this year’s Mike Goldie Trophy competition and, despite numbers being reduced by illness and holidays, there were still plenty of photos and stories to enjoy.
Andrea began with some images from a trip to Edinburgh, the busy Southern Agricultural Show where the SPS had a display of members’ prints, and a recent Northern Lights display over Port Erin’s iconic Bradda Head.
Brian Green followed with images from his extensive travels around the UK and at the island’s many summer events, including the same Southern Show, while Georgina’s photo of her granddaughter among tall sunflowers received deserved “Aahhs!”.
James introduced his images by saying “I waste my time on bikes and wildlife” and treated us to an excellent selection of action on wheels and wings. One showed just how close motorbike racers can get to the walls of the Southern 100 road racing circuit (below).
Jason shared his travels around Norfolk as well as images from local events, and Seamus showed a variety of lesser-known locations from his summer trips to Liverpool.
Thank you to everyone who gave us an insight into your summer!
Our next meeting is a practical session with an informal mixture including close-up photography, bokeh effects and tabletop lighting so bring your camera and (if you have them) tripod and any extra lenses.
The evening will also be a great opportunity to mingle with other members and ask any questions, and if you are thinking of joining us you will be very welcome to come for a chat. We start at the usual 7.45pm.
