Tabletop & Close-Up Evening

Tabletop and close-up evening

The first practical evening of the season saw tables covered with a variety of subjects, gadgets and equipment.

There were different backdrops, surfaces and lighting methods for objects including dried and frozen flowers, rusty tools, craft items and suspended waterdrops.

Steve provided fishing flies for everyone to experiment with focus and lighting of insects, and he kindly gave everyone a fishing fly for further practice.

David Silvester was invited to pop in ahead of his big move to France later that week, and he observed part of the session and offered some advice.

Dave Silvester visited our tabletop and close-up evening

David has been a good friend to the SPS and this was our opportunity to thank him, not only for judging and running several practical sessions for us, but also for his generous donation of several items from his former studio including print display boards, flash heads, modifiers, backdrops and various accessories that we can put to good use

We presented David with a card and gift and hope to see him next year when he visits the island.
