On Wednesday 1st December, IOMPS President Tony Curtis judged the ‘Juxtaposition’ competition.
Tony’s well-paced commentary and expert summary contributed to an enjoyable evening, with a fascinating variety of interpretations of the theme. Although little/large, black/white and dead/alive were possibly the most popular, we saw everything from contrasting emotions to still life setups, people, nature and transport.
Tony commented that the standard of entries forced him to award several maximum scores and he had pondered the final positions for some time, which was good to hear from such an experienced judge.
The results were as follows:
Print section:
1st: ‘Old and New’ by Sue Clegg – 20 points
2nd: ‘By Air and Sea’ by Andrea Thrussell – 20 points
3rd: ‘Light and Dark’ by Seamus Whelan – 20 points

Digital section:
1st: ‘The Pianist’ by Barry Hennedy – 20 points
2nd: ‘Curves and Angles’ by Gwen Tuck -20 points
3rd: ‘Enemy in the Ranks’ by Jason Quayle – 20 points
Highly Commended:
‘Little and Large’ by Andrea Thrussell – 20 points
‘Order and Chaos’ by Brian Green – 20 points.

Congratulations to Sue and Barry and to everyone with placed images, and well done to everyone who entered and contributed to an entertaining evening. It was clear that many images were created specifically for this competition, which is always great to see.
The members’ Christmas party is on 15th December and the first meeting of 2022 will be the January Open competition on 5th January, when Patricia Tutt will be our judge. The deadline for entries is Monday 27th December.
