On Wednesday evening Dennis Wood presented the results of the season’s first Open competition.
An experienced photographer and technical judge, Dennis began by saying that he had assessed each entry on its own merits rather than in comparison with the others, and gave tips on removing distracting areas/items at the edges of images. He split his comments into things he liked and those he liked less or would try to improve about each entry, offering advice where appropriate.
As ever with an open competition, the entries encompassed all styles and subjects and the results were as follows:
Digital section:
1st: “Alien Insect” by Steve Johnstone – 19 points (top of page)
2nd: “The Catch” by Georgina Shaw – 19 points
3rd: “Road to Nowhere” by Andrea Thrussell – 19 points
Print section:
1st: “Dookie – Green Day Tribute Band” by Jim Gibson – 19 points (above)
2nd: “Squirrel” by Steve Johnstone – 19 points
3rd: “Pretty in Pink” by Seamus Whelan – 18 points
