We were unable to repeat our 3-Way Battle win in last week’s 2-Way Battle with the Western Photographic Society.
Although our images received some very good scores, our average was half a point less than the Western’s and the final totals were
SPS – 513 points
WPS – 528 points
Judge Tony Curtis, President of the IOMPS, commented that many of the 60 images were excellent, and some were “stunning”. He also warned that if some of his comments or scores seemed harsh, it was because he was assessing the top images from each club and judging them by those standards.
Three images earned 20 points this year – “Contemplating” by Georgins Shaw (SPS), “Game Bird” by Bob Servante and “Phlebodium Aureum” by Dennis Wood (both WPS) – and Tony’s pick for the overall best image was Georgina’s “Contemplating”.
Scores ranged from 15 to 20 and our other top-scoring images were “Bike Fan” by Alan Taylor and “Juvenile Robin” by Sue Clegg with 19 points. Eight further images scored 18 points. By contrast, nine of the Western’s images scored 19.
14 members were represented in our 30 images, which is a great effort from the whole club.
