At our final club night of the season, guest Colin Russell presented a collection of his images under the heading “A Year in the Manx Landscape”.
It was a stunning set of images that flowed smoothly through the months, and several received audible approval from the audience as they appeared on the screen. Colin accompanied his inspirational presentation with expert advice on what to look out for each month and sometimes a tip on what or where to avoid.
He explained that he uses he uses neutral density filters on his lenses to control the light on location rather than using software afterwards, he uses the Outdoor Leisure Map, apps and tidal charts to give himself the best chance of the light or conditions he seeks, and his favourite month is “Non-stop November” when he enjoys the sunrises, sunsets and Autumn colours.
Colin shared images from all over the island and you can see a selection on this page.
Several of those present had not seen Colin’s work before and he gained a few new followers after this evening of excellent images and commentary. His website is at https://www.isleofmanlandscapes.com/ and his Facebook page is here.
Our thanks to Colin for not only sharing his images but the time and thought he put into assembling this presentation for our members.
