Jason Kinrade visited twice last season, first to demonstrate a professional portrait shoot and then to show us how he would edit his images. Last month he returned to make his debut as a competition judge.
He assessed 21 prints and 36 DPIs in the “After Dark” competition, which marks the halfway point of the regular competition season.

Jason commented that it was a difficult subject with so many different takes on the theme, but he was impressed with the great selection of images. His scores were slightly lower than some judges, while his comments were positive and encouraging and he offered advice where appropriate.
Our thanks to Jason for his time and expertise, and the results were as follows:
Prints:
1st: “St Michael’s Isle A Starry Night” by Steve Johnstone – 19 points
2nd: “Palma Cathedral” by Georgina Shaw – 17 points
3rd: “Glen Rushen Aurora” by Steve Johnstone – 17 points

Digital:
1st: “Port Erin Fireworks” by Seamus Whelan – 19 points
2nd: “Ramsey Pier” by Lynn Ryan – 18 points
3rd: “Aurora” by Andrea Thrussell – 18 points

Our next meeting on Wednesday 19th February will be for the results of the Open competition, and the following club night on 5th March sees Chris Blyth return to give another travel photography presentation, this time on Alaska.
