The last of the six cumulative competitions was judged on 16th April by Dr Patricia Tutt ARPS, long-serving secretary of the Western PS and respected photographer and judge.
There were 27 prints and 42 DPIs to assess and Pat gave each a concise but thorough critique, offering advice from time to time.
The results were as follows:
Print section:
1st: “Inches From The Wall” by James Joyce – 20 points
2nd: “Landing Swan” by James Joyce – 19 points
3rd: “Tranquility” by Andrea Thrussell – 18 points

Digital:
1st: “Eye Contact” by Andrea Thrussell – 20 points
2nd: “Red Soldier Beetles” by James Joyce – 20 points
3rd: “On the Drums” by Seamus Whelan – 19 points

Pat commented that the print section had a clear winner with James’ racing image being “excellent”, especially the rider’s eyes. She said the digital section was harder to decide with several strong images, and Andrea’s was the one that moved her with the mood and eye contact.

The final competition of this season is the Image of the Year, which takes place on 7th May. The deadline for entries is 11pm next Wednesday, which is a club night so the ideal opportunity to bring any print entries.
