Eddie Fryer was our judge for the first Open of the season and we enjoyed the usual wide selection of images for such a competition.
Subjects included sport, animals, nature, architecture and people, and Eddie provided a thoughtful and constructive commentary on each.
He commented that there are “no absolutes” in judging other people’s work, and added that another judge may pick six completely different images for the top places.
The results were as follows:
Print section:
1st: “Peregrine Falcon About Face” by Steve Johnstone – 20 points
2nd: “Clown” by Seamus Whelan – 19 points
3rd: “That Wanaka Tree” by Steve Johnstne – 19 points

Digital section:
1st: “Ready For My Close Up” by Angela Skitt – 20 points
2nd: “Humber Bridge” by Georgina Shaw – 19 points
3rd: Male Bearded Tit” by Steve Johnstone – 19 points

Eddie described Steve’s print winner as “absolutely stunning”, while he thought Angela’s DPI winner jumped out and had “the wow factor”. Congratulations to both, especially Angela for her first competition win!
The other 19s in the digital section were Jim’s “Michael Dunlop at Greeba Bridge” and Andrea’s “Contrasts”. Well done to everyone for a great selection of images and some excellent scores.
You can see the placed images on this page, and many thanks to Eddie for his time, feedback and advice.
