On Wednesday 13th Ocotber, Geoff McCann was the judge for our first regular competition of the season and he delivered his assessment of the entries for “Movement/Motion”.
It was also a welcome opportunity to thank him in person for printing all of the posters for our 50th anniversary exhibition at his business Typhoon House.
Geoff revealed that he chose to judge this competition due to his love of capturing movement in his own photography. He explained that he was looking for a sense of movement and was keen on images that included some form of motion blur, which was reflected in his scores. The placed images are as follows:
Print Section:
1st: Windblown by Sue Clegg – 20 points
2nd: Eiders at Dawn by Peter Skears – 19 points
3rd: Wild Water by Sue Clegg – 18 points

Digital Section:
1st: Mass Movement by Jason Quayle – 20 points
2nd: Fire! Fire! by Georgina Shaw – 19 points
3rd: Cycle Race by Brian Goldie – 19 points

Congratulations to those above, and well done to everyone for a great selection of entries to what Geoff described as a close competition with images that he really enjoyed. The subjects included all forms of sport and activities, nature, transport, wildlife and lots of water.
The top six images can be seen on this page and all entries will be in the website gallery section in a few days.
Next Wednesday (20th) is a club night featuring our own Jim and Peter, who will present images and tell us about motorsports, astrophotography, nature and the Falkland Islands. Wednesday is also the final opportunity to book tickets and food for the 3-Way Battle in Douglas on Friday 29th October.
