Friday’s 3-Way Battle ran smoothly, thanks to everyone who organised and helped on the night in so many different ways.
Your help is always appreciated and the night couldn’t have happened without you. The WPS have complimented us on a well-run evening and Sue’s cakes!
The new projector (many thanks to the Isle of Man Arts Council for their support) showcased the images well, and the only disappointing factor of the night was the result. We selected a range of high-scoring images from the last year, but could not match the number of top scores of the two other clubs.
Judge Ron Strathdee expertly assessed the 90 digital images, admitting that it was a “stressful but enjoyable task”, and adding that it took several days going back and forth before settling on his top choices.
The final points totals were:
IOMPS – 539
WPS – 530
SPS – 517
The other clubs had seven images each that scored the maximum 20 points while we managed three; congratulations to Steve for “Barn Owl in the Rain” and “Bearded Reedling”, and to Seamus for “In the Light”.

Our next highest scores on 19 were Andrea’s “Looking Up” and “Metal Skyline”, Jim’s “Michael Dunlop at Greeba Bridge” and Angela’s “Reflections”. The overall winning image was a backlit mushroom called “Fairy Light” by Sean Corlett of the IOMPS.
Well done to everyone who had images selected. We have performed better in the past, and – with the talent in our membership – we will again. The next inter-club competition is the 2-Way Battle with the Western PS in February.
Our next meeting is the Open competition next Wednesday, 19th November, when Eddie Fryer is our judge.
