The competition season ended on a high note on Wednesday with the Image of the Year. All entries have been seen previously in competitions, and it was wonderful to see them all again in the same event.

This year’s competition attracted an excellent range of ideas and some very technical and high quality entries.
For the second consecutive year due to lockdown, members viewed the Digital Art entries online and voted for their top three, and the results are as follows.

On Wednesday, local professional photographer Clare Payne judged the ‘Food and Drink’ competition for us, which was the third regular competition of our season.
The theme encouraged a huge range of subjects and styles, from still life and close-up, to items on market stalls and people eating or cooking outdoors, to high-speed images of liquid frozen in motion.

The island’s three photographic societies met in St John’s last week for the annual “3-Way Battle”.
This year, it was the turn of the Western Photographic Society to host the Southern and Isle of Man Photographic Societies for this friendly digital competition, in which each club enters 30 digital images with no more than five by any one member.
