Two things pictured side by side for comparison or contrasting effect e.g. black/white, old/new, life/death, hot/cold, large/small etc.

Club Night

Photo presentations by members Jim Gibson and Peter Skears.

Jim will share images and advice about different types of sports and night sky photography, while Peter will share nature and wildlife images including some from his  visits to the Falkland Islands.

3-Way Battle – Inter-Club Competition

Annual digital ‘battle’ between the island’s three photographic societies. This year the IOM Photographic Society hosts the Western and Southern Photographic Societies.

Tickets available:
£15 for two-course meal (advance booking required) and tea/coffee, or
£3 for admission without meal.

‘Travelog’ Presentation by Dr Dave Salter

Dave will give us his presentation encompassing architecture, street scenes, people and miscellaneous subjects from his travels through the UK and further afield.

‘Movement/Motion’ Competition

Club Night

Practical workshop session based around tabletop, close-up, bokeh effects.  The ideal opportunity to try something new and mingle while swapping ideas and advice.

Bring your camera, plus tripod and close-up/macro lens if you have them.

Introductory Evening & Mike Goldie Competition

Welcome to the new season with an introduction for new members and visitors followed by the annual Mike Goldie Trophy, an informal standalone competition open to all paid-up members.  The theme selected by last year’s winner, Andrea Thrussell, is ‘’Hands’ and Andrea will judge the entries (digital only, maximum of three images).

Please also bring up to ten digital images for the summer challenge (“Knobs and Knockers”) and also 10-15 images for “What I Did This Summer” to share after the break.  Bring all images on a memory stick at the start of the evening.
