Barry Murphy returned to judge our third open competition of the season, which featured action, landscape, nature and people photography.
An accomplished photographer himself, Barry has judged for us twice before and he gave a thoughtful critique of each entry and offered advice where appropriate, including his favourite tip to carry out an “edge patrol” of images to remove possible distractions.
He also admitted that he was inspired by some of the locations and would visit as soon as possible.

Barry awarded 19 points to the top three images in each section and admitted that it was hard to separate them. The results were as follows:
Print section:
1st: “Watchful” by Andrea Thrussell
2nd: “When Your Boat Matches Its Environment” by Lynn Ryan
3rd: “Grey Heron Out On A Limb” by Steve Johnstone

Digital section:
1st: “Sunflower Meadow” by Jason Quayle
2nd: “Ladies Smock” by Steve Johnstone
3rd: “Steps” by Andrea Thrussell

Congratulations to them, and all entries will be added to the Gallery section in a few days.
Our “Year In The Life of Port Erin” exhibition will open on Tuesday 28th March at the Erin Arts Centre and will run until early May. Further details to follow very soon.
