This competition was the second half of an experiment in which the Southern and Western Photographic Societies judged an open competition for each other.
On Wednesday 18th February, WPS chairman John Keelan visited to present the results of this competition, as decided by their members.
It was the second half of this reciprocal judging exercise, and members of both clubs seem in favour of repeating it next season, with a few tweaks to smooth the process. John revealed that the process had caused plenty of debate among their members, but they had largely agreed on the scores and results.

The WPS members were not as generous as we were in November, with the vast majority of scores in the 15-16 range apart from the placed images. But the comments on each image were distilled from their members’ opinions and offered good feedback and ideas.
The results were as follows:
Print Section:
1st: “Greenshank Swallowing A Tasty Worm” by Steve Johnstone – 20 points
2nd: “Window View” by Seamus Whelan – 18 points
3rd: “Minuscule Fly on Toadstool” by Steve Johnstone – 17 points

Digital Section:
1st: “Rydal Cave Lake District” by Steve Johnstone – 20 points
2nd: “Batfly” by Jim Gibson – 19 points
3rd: “I’m Watching You” by Angela Skitt – 19 points

Congratulations to the members with placed images, and well done to everyone who submitted images; it is good to see new members getting involved.
